Director of Global Volunteer Programs and Regional Director, Americas
Andrea Dunne-Sosa, M.P.H., CVA serves as Project HOPE’s Director of Global Volunteer Programs and Regional Director, Americas. Based in our Millwood, Virginia headquarters Andrea is responsible for directing and managing all volunteer activities at Project HOPE and for developing and managing our portfolio of public health programs in North and South America and the Caribbean. As a strong advocate for volunteerism, she is dedicated to fostering sustainable collaborations and supporting volunteers toward focused, impactful and rewarding service opportunities.
In addition to professional expertise in volunteer management, Andrea has fifteen years’ experience managing domestic and international public health programs in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the United States. Prior to joining Project HOPE in April of 2015, Andrea worked for Children International as the Program Officer for Health and Nutrition, overseeing core global health programs including medical services, dental services, nutrition rehabilitation, tuberculosis and reproductive health. Andrea also served as the Director of Health and Safety at an American Red Cross chapter and is experienced in disaster response and health program management for infectious and noncommunicable diseases.
Andrea completed her Master’s in Public Health at Columbia University and holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology. From 2003-04 she served as a J. William Fulbright Scholar, focused on capacity building among community health workers in the Dominican Republic. Andrea is Certified in Volunteer Administration by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration. She is fluent in Spanish.
