Eight new medical volunteers joined the remaining Project HOPE team, Bridget Binko, Dr. Alan Jamison, Maureen Kisicki, Kristopher Radder and Hannah Taylor onboard the USS Cleveland as it sailed to Micronesia and Timor Leste, the final leg of Pacific Partnership 2011, a 4-month, five-country humanitarian and health education mission in partnership with the U.S Navy. Project HOPE volunteers have participated in nearly two dozen missions with the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense in the past six years, caring for over 550,000 patients, performing nearly 9,000 surgeries and training over 190,000 health care workers and individuals. 

 

Meet the Rotation Three Volunteers

Dr. Lynn Bemiller is a hematologist-oncologist from San Diego, California. She is both a former Naval Officer and an experienced HOPE volunteer, serving onboard the USNS Comfort in 2009 and USNS Mercy in 2010. She is serving as HOPE’s Operations Office onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

 

Karen, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner stationed in Singapore is a first-time HOPE volunteer. She is using her pediatric nursing skills and extensive volunteer experience onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

Joyce Cleavenger, a Family Nurse Practitioner who works in Great Falls, Montana is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer. A Boston native, Cleavenger is using her nursing skills onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

 

Anina Terry, a Registered Nurse from San Francisco, California is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer.  She is working as a Community Health Nurse onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

 

Christina Grass, a Registered Nurse from Big Pine Key, Florida is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer. She is using her nursing skills onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

 

Lance Sateren, a Pharmacist from Bismarck, North Dakota is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer. He is serving as a Pharmacy Preceptor onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste, mentoring HOPE’s pharmacy students and local pharmacy professionals.

 

Andrew Siler is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer from Herndon, Virginia. Siler is a Doctor of Pharmacy student at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia and a former Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is using his pharmacy skills onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.

 

Andrea Tanzella is a first-time Project HOPE volunteer from Baltimore, Maryland. Tanzella is a  Doctor of Pharmacy student Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. She is using her pharmacy skills onboard the USS Cleveland and ashore in Micronesia and Timor Leste.
