Connie Lieu Pfizer Global Health Fellow

This is the 100 year celebration of Nursing Day at Shanghai Children’s Medical Center (SCMC) and Lily Hsu, who heads our Shanghai Project HOPE office and once trained SCMC nurses, was on hand to help honor the outstanding nurses that make SCMC all that it is today.

It is amazing the accomplishments of the nursing staff at SCMC.  A recent comparison of the ratio and effectiveness of SCMC to an equivalent hospital in the United States shows that the nursing staff at SCMC covers almost 5 times the volume of patients while providing the same level of care.  Now, that is just absolutely outstanding and so inspiring to me!  Can you just imagine the pressure and stress on these professionals!  Talk about doing more with less!
