Dr. Thomas Kenyon joined Project HOPE in September of 2015. He most recently served as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Center for Global Health, where he was responsible for overseeing four major global health divisions: Division of Global HIV/AIDS, Global Immunization Division, Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria, and Division of Global Health Protection.
Prior to becoming Director of CDC’s Center for Global Health, Dr. Kenyon was the Country Director for CDC Ethiopia, overseeing the Division of Global HIV/AIDS and was previously the Principal Deputy Global AIDS Coordinator and Chief Medical Officer for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) at the U.S. Department of State.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Kenyon served as Project HOPE’s Country Director for Swaziland from 1987 to 1992. In this role he established the first HIV/AIDS programs in Swaziland, promoting behavior change, HIV counseling and testing.
