Volunteers Britta Harman and Lindsay Johnson, Masters students at the University of Kentucky spent four weeks with Project HOPE in South Africa building on the great work that Project HOPE's Rachel Miller did in February this year with our Village Savings and Loans groups VSL). Eleven groups have been formed that meet on a weekly basis where they save money and then make small loans to members of the groups to generate income. Britta and Lindsay, working with the local team were able to provide support, train health educators and improve systems to make the program run more efficiently.
