The results are in, and Dr. Jamison has been chosen as our 2013 Volunteer of the Year. A pediatrician and long-time volunteer, Dr. Jamison worked with HOPE's Global Health team in Mozambique to assess opportunities to improve clinical maternal child health. He also went to Ghana and Benin as HOPE's first volunteer to partner with the Royal Dutch Navy — treating hundreds of underserved patients, and working tirelessly after hours to educate the local hospital and clinical staff. He gave 376 volunteer hours in 2013. "My greatest joy remains in providing clinical care for children. However, as I mature in experience on humanitarian missions, I have come to realize the true sustainability in my work resides in training the trainer and imparting the spirit of selfless giving to others," he says. Thanks to all who voted, and many thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers for their dedication and service around the world.
