Lambda Kappa Sigma is an international professional pharmacy fraternity that has had an extraordinary partnership with Project HOPE for the past 52 years. Since adopting Project HOPE as their official National Philanthropy in 1964, LKS has raised $187,000 in support of Project HOPE’s mission and global health programs. Founded in 1913, LKS began as a small women’s professional pharmacy society, and has since grown to over 24,000 members, with the core values of the fraternity centering on sisterhood, leadership, service, scholarship and integrity.
The history of Project HOPE’s relationship with Lambda Kappa Sigma began with one LKS sister, Margaret Sherwood of the University of Pittsburgh Delta Chapter, who served as a staff pharmacist of the SS HOPE. This led to the adoption of Project HOPE as the fraternity’s official philanthropy and started a partnership that over the years has been committed to improving health systems, teaching the next generation of medical professionals, and impacting the lives of people across the globe. Today, LKS continues to support Project HOPE with creative fundraisers at different chapters around the country, including pancake breakfasts, talent shows, international fairs, and their signature HOPE WaLKS event.
Project HOPE is extremely grateful for the years of dedication and support that Lambda Kappa Sigma has given to the organization. Their fundraising efforts and collaboration with Project HOPE have continued to help further the mission and goals of the organization, and we look forward to continuing this amazing partnership for years to come.
