Haiti 2013

Paralympics Haiti

Immediately following the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Project HOPE sent more than 100 volunteer doctors, nurses and medical technicians and delivered more than $60 million of medicines and medical supplies to help.

But our work did not stop there.

  • In the fall of 2010, HOPE volunteers, supplies and a team of experts responded to a new disaster, the Cholera crisis. Read More
  • In 2011, Project HOPE and partners helped open the only comprehensive, free, rehab center in Haiti, Chanje Lavi, that has treated more than 4,000 patients and now is locally managed. Read More
  • In 2012, HOPE and partners began a three-year program to strengthen rehabilitation centers and care for those suffering from earthquake related injuries and other tragedies. Read More

In October, the new program helped support the first Paralympics competition in the country which was a “major psychological booster” for amputees recovering from earthquake related injuries according to HOPE’s Program Director in Haiti, Dr. Lucien Armand.
