Project HOPE works to address the rapidly growing risks of chronic disease worldwide—especially obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Our primary approach is to increase the capacity of health professionals, health care workers, peers, and individuals to prevent, diagnose, and more effectively manage their diseases. We build the skills of health care professionals at all levels, and mobilize communities to promote healthy lifestyles including educating the general public. For over ten years, Project HOPE’s programs in China, India, Mexico, New Mexico, and South Africa have encompassed work and school-based wellness programs, peer education, community mobilization in support of health initiatives, local clinics, home visits for the disabled, mobile clinics, and novel electronic distance learning and support.
