Volunteers aboard the USS Iwo Jima traveled to Suriname as part of the U.S. Navy’s Continuing Promise 2010. Along with their Navy counterparts, 15 HOPE medical volunteers cared for more 1,700, performed 108 surgeries and participated in more than 670 educational contacts during the one-week mission.
