Project HOPE in the Americas and the Caribbean
Project HOPE has been working in communities throughout the Americas and the Caribbean since 1962, when the S.S. HOPE first docked in Peru. HOPE's long-term programs have ranged from the development of basic health training programs for mothers to major infrastructure reform. HOPE's efforts have benefited the people of Argentina, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, the United States, Venezuela, as well as several other island nations of the Caribbean.
Today, the Foundation has active programs in Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. In each of these countries, Project HOPE programs have been developed in partnership with local counterparts to meet the particular demands of the affected communities, within local constraints and culture. In general, these programs respond to the lack of adequate health services for mothers and children. |
