Diabetes Education – Project HOPE has developed a comprehensive diabetes patient education course called 5 Steps to Self-Care, a 12-part workshop series providing patients with the knowledge, skills and encouragement to improve their diabetes control, and to peer counsel others with diabetes or who are at-risk. In addition HOPE has launched a complementary professional training component, called Lend a Hand to Self-Care. Now Project HOPE is supporting a local NGO to launch a Diabetes Education and Prevention Center, with the aim of establishing permanent community infrastructure for providing on going low-cost, high quality education and care services.
Regional HIV/AIDS Education and Training Center – Located in Mexico City, the Center combines classroom and hands-on learning in field sites selected as models of excellence. The aim is to strengthen both the clinical and educational skills of trainees to provide higher quality care to clients as well as training for colleagues upon returning to their home institutions.

Project HOPE developed a comprehensive patient education course called 5 Steps to Self-Care, a 12-part workshop series providing patients with the knowledge, skills and encouragement to improve their diabetes control, and to peer counsel others with diabetes or who are at-risk; HOPE inaugurated a Center for HIV/AIDS Education Prevention (CEPVIDA) in a local university clinic, providing student doctors, nurses and psychologists performing mandatory social service an opportunity to accompany HOPE in weekly workshops and outreach events in the community and thereby gain vital professional experience |
