Project HOPE in Central and Eastern Europe
For the past 30 years, Project HOPE has helped the people of Central and Eastern Europe by training health care workers, delivering health education to the public, and providing humanitarian assistance in areas of need.
Among its many accomplishments, Project HOPE has helped to develop the Polish American Children’s Hospital a regional leader in the care of children; trained over 3,500 health care workers in the latest approaches to health care management; became a leader in the implementation of primary health care reforms in Bosnia; and participated in the development and implementation of a region-wide HIV/AIDS program in 7 countries of the Western Balkans.
Recently, Project HOPE committed itself to a continued presence in the region, with a special focus in the following areas:
- Children’s health
- Health of the aging population
- Addressing the health needs of disenfranchised population groups
- Health workforce development
