University Children's Hospital of Krakow - As a part of its 50th anniversary campaign, Project HOPE will upgrade the Pediatric Neonatal Unit at the University Children's Hospital in Krakow (UCH) - formerly known as the Polish-American Children's Hospital - and prepare UCH to serve as a training platform to raise the neonatal and other pediatric capabilities of selected hospitals in Central and Eastern Europe.

Timeline

1974 - Project HOPE is invited to assist the Polish-American Children's Hospital - now University Children's Hospital of Krakow - to create education programs for health professionals serving a the hospital
1975 - Completion of a medical research facility adjacent to PACH
1988 - A 240-bed rehabilitation center is completed as part of PACH
1990 - HOPE helps establish a 16-bed center for newborns including a 4-bed intensive care unit for premature infants at PACH
1996 - HOPE and PACH celebrate the completion of the Clement J. Zablocki Ambulatory Care Center, consecrated by Pope John Paul II; Managers for Reform of Polish Healthcare Program begins encompassing strategic planning, human resources, financial management, operations management, health policy, and other related topics
1998 - Breast cancer awareness campaign for physicians, nurses, educators, psychologists, social workers, and breast cancer survivors begins
1999 - Project HOPE assists in the development of a Pediatric Gasteroenterology Clinic through the training of gasteroenterology specialists; Multidisciplinary Care of the Special Child and Family project begins training health professionals who work with handicapped children ad their families
