We are excited to announce Project HOPE's Volunteer of the Year, Nurse Beryl Brooks, and our Global Partner Volunteer of the Year, Eli Lilly and Company Connecting Hearts Abroad Volunteers.
Posted: April 23, 2017
Beryl Brooks, a long-time volunteer for Project HOPE, served on multiple volunteer assignments in 2016, including two separate neonatal assessments in Sierra Leone and the Dominican Republic, neonatal nursing in Hungary, and she also served at the Ste. Therese Hospital in Haiti following Hurricane Matthew.
In 2016, Lilly sent nine Connecting Hearts Abroad volunteers to support Project HOPE’s HOPE Centre in South Africa. Together, the volunteers contributed 720 hours, creating video segments and health education materials about diabetes, hypertension and exercise to benefit patients of the HOPE Centre. The volunteer team also provided technical training for Project HOPE staff on the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as business development and proposal writing skills.
Join us in thanking our hundreds of dedicated volunteers during National Volunteer Week and congratulating Beryl Broks and the volunteers from Lilly’s Connecting Hearts Abroad on their special recognition.
