Health Affairs Editor-in-Chief Alan Weil Elected To The National Academy Of Medicine

Health Affairs and its publisher Project HOPE are pleased to announce that Alan Weil, Health Affairs’ editor-in-chief, and Project HOPE’s vice president for public policy, has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM). Membership in the NAM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievements and commitment to service.

Dr. Tom Kenyon, president and CEO of Project HOPE, said: “Mr. vWeil’s election to the National Academy of Medicine is a reflection of his many contributions to understanding and improving health care and health policy. We are all extremely proud of Alan, who is a key member of Project HOPE’s senior management team.”

Weil assumed his responsibilities at Health Affairs and Project HOPE in June 2014. A highly respected expert in health policy, he spent a decade as executive director of the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP). Previously, he directed the Urban Institute’s Assessing the New Federalism project and held a cabinet position as executive director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. Weil recently completed six years of service on the Board on Health Care Services of the NAM (and its predecessor, the Institute of Medicine).
