Celebrating Health Care Workers with Project HOPE
On May 9, 2022, we honored health care workers and their lifesaving impact in the United States and around the world at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.

Event Information
On May 9, 2022, a special reception in Washington, D.C. brought together partner companies, board members, awardees, and Project HOPE team members for an evening of celebration.
In addition to celebrating the impact of health care workers, the following awards were given during the event:
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to Project HOPE’s success. They represent the most influential minds in the field of healthcare. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by us.
This year’s inaugural award recognizes Project HOPE board chair emeritus and retired Chairman of Merck, Richard T. Clark, for outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment in the advancement of healthcare over his lifetime.
Global Health Leadership Award
The Global Health Leadership Award honors a distinguished leader from a company or organization which has made a significant contribution to global health through the donation of medicines, medical supplies, equipment, or expertise.
This year’s recipient is Project HOPE board director emeritus and Chairman, CEO, and President of Quest Diagnostics, Steve H. Rusckowski.
Global Health Partnership Award
The Global Health Corporate Leadership Award honors a company or organization which has made a significant contribution to global health through the donation of medicines, medical supplies, equipment, or expertise.
This year’s recipient was Medtronic Foundation.
Volunteers of the Year Award
Medical volunteers have been at the heart of Project HOPE’s mission for more than 60 years. But never were they more needed than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Volunteer of the Year Award honors some of Project HOPE’s volunteers for their service and commitment to Project HOPE’s mission during an unprecedented year.
The Event Location
Our event will take place on the rooftop terrace at the new International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., located at 700 L’Enfant Plaza, SW. The event space will be highly conducive to socializing, and offers amazing views of downtown Washington D.C. and the monuments.

Portraits of the Frontline
Julia Maddalina, 26, is a professional artist who is using her paintbrush to bring the stories of health care workers on the frontlines of fighting COVID-19 to life. In March 2020, Maddalina started a series called Portraits of the Frontline, using social media to connect with health workers and their families. Since then, she has painted 100 portraits of health workers who have dedicated their lives to saving others around the world.
Inspired by Julia’s artwork that tells the stories of these heroic health workers and the sacrifices they have made during an unprecedented year, our event will feature her work in celebration of health workers.
