A staff nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, Grace has been volunteering with Project HOPE since 2011. In 2014, she supported Project HOPE in two disaster relief efforts, first in the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan and later in Sierra Leone during the Ebola outbreak.
Grace provided primary care outreach clinics, targeting villages and populations made inaccessible by the typhoon in the Philippines. In Sierra Leone she joined an expert team to perform a rapid site assessment to help inform Project HOPE’s potential long-term response to that humanitarian crisis.
She contributed 152 impactful hours in 2014.
“Standing in the middle of an Ebola Treatment Center in Sierra Leone, I remember having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude in being afforded the opportunity to use the skills and share the knowledge that I have accrued over the years to aid in this crisis,” she says.
