More than 8300 Cared for in Indonesia

As patients in Indonesia began making their way home after receiving life-changing health care, four valuable members of the Project HOPE team also completed their service.  

Nurses Cortney Marsh, Jewel Meada, Molly Torvik, and Angela Clegg departed the Pacific Partnership 2012 mission with memories that will last a life time.  

“It was a great experience, I will always remember how welcoming everyone was,” says Marsh, a Registered Nurse from San Diego, California. “From the partner nations to various non-government organizations, it was great to see how open the Navy was to make them fit right in.” 

Jewel Maeda, a Nurse Midwife from the Northern Mariana Islands of Saipan talked a little about her time helping out with a Subject Matter Expert Exchange on the island of Sangihe.  

“I will remember the people that I was able to interact with during my six days on Sangihe,” says Maeda. “It is sad to go, but it is also nice to be going home at the same time.”  

More than 8,300 patients received care from the Pacific Partnership team in Indonesia. 

As the Project HOPE team says goodbye to four members, five new volunteers eagerly join the mission with bright smiles on their faces. Check back tomorrow to meet the new volunteers joining the Project HOPE team to provide health care and health education in the Philippines.
