As part of National Volunteer Week we are highlighting one of our many outstanding volunteers every day this week!
Meet Samee Connelly
Samee Connelly is a disease management specialist and senior clinical quality nurse with United Healthcare (UHC) Community and State, New Mexico. She currently oversees the Disease Management Program for UHC and, through a partnership between United HealthGroup and Project HOPE, she volunteers in New Mexico to support HOPE’s HABITS for Life program.
In New Mexico, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cancer have reached epidemic proportions. Project HOPE’s Habits for Life program provides outreach and preventative education programs, increases access to health screenings through the traveling HOPEmobile and provides training for community health workers.
Samee’s dedication to improving health in her community is inspiring. In addition to her work, and her volunteer efforts with HOPE, she also volunteers for other health related organizations in New Mexico. “I believe that if all members of our community were able to give just a little bit of time, we would have a much healthier society,” she says.
