NEXTGen of HOPE
Approximately 120 young professionals in the D.C. area joined HOPE’s NEXTGeneration Leadership Board in support of the inaugural, “NEXTGen of HOPE Junior Gala.”

Last month, approximately 120 young professionals in the D.C. area joined Project HOPE’s NEXTGeneration Leadership Board at Long View Gallery in support of the inaugural, “NEXTGen of HOPE Junior Gala.” The Gala raised over $20,000 in support of Project HOPE’s global health and humanitarian assistance programs while engaging guests in interactive displays and stations to educate them on HOPE’s mission.
The event’s theme was “Make HOPE Happen”, encouraging guests to make pledges on how they will help make HOPE happen in their lives by adding their ideas to our “MakeHOPEHappen” map throughout the evening. Guests pledged to volunteer, give back to their communities, donate, etc. and left the event motivated to do more both for HOPE and as a global citizen.
One of our guests, Jon McHugh, an associate with our top Gala sponsor, Livesay & Myers, P.C. stated, “Project HOPE’s mission and work around the world deserves everyone’s attention and support. As an associate at Livesay & Myers, P.C., my colleagues and I believe it is important to consider how we can give back to our local communities, and, how we can have a larger societal impact. The NEXTGen Gala was incredibly well organized and orchestrated, and, I enjoyed meeting and talking to several NEXTGen board members and Project HOPE employees. The more I learned about Project HOPE, the more I was impressed by their work and their dedication to helping those in need across the world.”

Led by Torrey Shallcross, Deputy Director of Development with the United States Global Leadership Coalition, NEXTGen is currently building on momentum from the Gala and planning for its second year as a Board. “The NEXTGen of HOPE Junior Gala was our first big event since NEXTGen was founded in D.C. last October,” said Ms. Shallcross. “I’m thrilled with how the evening turned out and the way our Board and Host committee came together to make the event a success. I’m extremely proud to serve as the NEXTGen Board chair and help advocate and raise support for such a critically needed organization like Project HOPE. The Board and I are already busy planning activities to keep building our presence in D.C. and are excited for what’s to come!”
A big thank you to our NEXTGen Board for all of its hard work and for throwing such a successful Gala! This evening would also not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Livesay & Myers, P.C. and Tolley Dental. With the help of donors like these, more vulnerable women, children and families will have access to life-saving and quality health care around the world.
