Pediatric Specialists Popular in Nepal

First time Project HOPE volunteer Onica Kuch, from San Francisco, California, is an advanced practice pediatric nurse serving the Pacific Angel 2012 Nepal mission. Onica is a highly trained practitioner treating pediatric oncology patients in the U.S.
In Nepal, examining a young patient, dressed in her finest white ballerina dress, Onica used the opportunity to train and coach a Nepalese second year medical student in basic physical examination.
Making the young patients feel comfortable is part of her examination technique and Onica brought kid’s stickers with her to give away to patients. Obviously, her stickers worked. The children could later be seen proudly showing all their friends the gold stars, Cinderella and Mickey Mouse stickers on their arms.
Veteran Project HOPE volunteer Dr. Melissa Moore, a Pediatrician from Tucson, Arizona, is also a popular figure at the health clinic, even when drawing up medication to administer to the Nepalese children being treated at the clinic. In addition to her current volunteer mission in Nepal, Dr. Moore also volunteered with Project HOPE in 2010 as part of Continuing Promise, helping in Haiti a few months after the devastating earthquake.
