PROJECT HOPE MONITORS IMPACT OF HURRICANE MICHAEL IN FLORIDA
Project HOPE is actively monitoring the impact of Hurricane Michael, a Category 4 storm that slammed into the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday, carrying winds of 155 miles per hour and storm surges as high as 14 feet. Substantial rainfall and flooding are expected throughout areas of Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas, and we are very concerned for communities affected by the monster storm.
While Project HOPE’s emergency response typically focuses on international crises, we deploy domestically when we are needed. Project HOPE is currently providing health care for survivors of the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia and the earthquake in Haiti. Our medical teams have responded to almost every major disaster since the Indonesian tsunami in 2004.
