Project HOPE Saves Hundreds of Lives in Tajikistan
15 Years of Tuberculosis Prevention, Care, Support
Project HOPE has been bringing hope and health to people with tuberculosis (TB) and their families in Tajikistan since 2001 when Tajikistan’s Ministry of Health requested technical assistance to stop the spread of TB and HOPE responded. For the past 15 years HOPE has partnered with Tajikistan’s National TB Control Program, USAID, the Global Fund, civil society organizations, local government and communities to implement targeted and effective TB control interventions. These efforts have brought cure and support to 17,000 beneficiaries representing over 80 percent of all registered TB cases in Tajikistan.
Recognizing Project HOPE’s contribution to public health in Tajikistan, the National TB Control Program and the Sughd Oblast Health Department recently presented Project HOPE with a certificate of appreciation for saving hundreds of lives from this infectious disease.
