Project HOPE Shares Impact of Infection Prevention Program in Long-term Care Facilities
Funding provided by Quest Diagnostics supported COVID-19 testing for long-term care facilities in Illinois and Texas
Washington, DC (4 November 2022) – In July 2021, Project HOPE – the global health and humanitarian organization – teamed up with Quest Diagnostics to support COVID-19 testing services focused on reducing transmission and preventing infection among vulnerable residents in long-term care facilities in Illinois and Texas. In partnership with local health departments, Project HOPE extended its infection prevention work from July 2021 to June of 2022.
“Our collaboration with Quest Diagnostics helped to increase Project HOPE’s focus on addressing and improving health equity,” said Harley Jones, Senior Manager at Project HOPE. “With this generous support, we delivered expertise and resources to the nursing homes that needed it most, effectively building their capacity to better serve their patients in the long-term.”
Quest’s support enabled Project HOPE to increase their reach by 40% through subject matter experts who conducted site visits with additional nursing homes in their network.
In addition to COVID-19 testing, Quest Diagnostics’ support through the company’s Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) initiative enabled Project HOPE to identify long-term care facilities in need of support, and provide them with on-site assessments, tailored risk-mitigation plans, and supportive mentorships. These essential services helped Project HOPE to continue their lifesaving infection prevention and control support to long-term care facilities across the Chicago metropolitan area and southeast Texas.
“Quest is proud to support the critical resources Project HOPE provides to long-term care facilities that serve the most vulnerable patients and possess the fewest resources,” said Mandell Jackson, Vice President and General Manager, Quest for Health Equity. “We are pleased with the results and applaud Project HOPE’s continued commitment to addressing key social determinants of health in marginalized communities.”
