Needs Assessment Report | Venezuela

Following the June 2026 earthquakes in Venezuela, Project HOPE and its local subsidiary, Proyecto Esperanza, conducted a needs assessment across 12 health facilities and 160 households in Distrito Capital, Miranda, and La Guaira to evaluate health service capacity, WASH conditions, and community protection needs. The assessment found significant gaps in emergency obstetric care, mental health and psychosocial support services, water quality monitoring, handwashing infrastructure, and protection mechanisms, despite generally strong community knowledge of disease prevention and existing health system capacity. Findings indicate that humanitarian response efforts should prioritize restoring essential health supplies and infrastructure, strengthening WASH systems, expanding mental health and protection services, and addressing barriers that prevent communities and health facilities from translating existing knowledge into effective practices.
