Sanofi US Donates $32 Million of Medicines to Project HOPE To Help Flood Victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina

 

Project HOPE, an international health education and humanitarian assistance organization, has received $32 million-worth of donated medicines from the Sanofi Foundation for North America to aid the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the heaviest rainfall in 120 years of recorded weather measurements brought devastating floods to the region in May.

The donated medicines have already departed Project HOPE’s distribution center in the United States and are en route via shipping container to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The majority of the donation, valued at about $30 million, consists of more than 90,000 Auvi-Q® auto-injectors (epinephrine injection, USP).  Sanofi US also donated a combined $2 million-worth of Lasix® (furosemide) and Amaryl® (glimepiride).

Project HOPE first provided donated medicines and medical supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992 in response to the Bosnian War which devastated the region.  The organization subsequently refurbished or built more than 30 primary health care clinics and provided training in family medicine to health professionals in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

Project HOPE continues to ship donated, high-quality medicines, medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and health clinics in Bosnia and Herzegovina through its ongoing Strategic Medical Re-Supply Program to improve the quality of patient care.
