Aizada was one of the grateful recipients of a PET vehicle, a hand cranked wheelchair made to withstand off-road terrain. Now she can leave her home alone, go shopping and even help her mother buy products.

This two-day event with over 2000 attendees opened with much excitement and discussions on nutrition centering on the adult population.

An outreach team from Shanghai Children's Medical Center and Project HOPE traveled to JianShui County People Hospital to celebrate International Children’s Day by hosting a free clinic day for children.

To date, the Shanghai Children's Medical Center and Project HOPE Rural Fellows Program has graduated 281 doctors and nurses from 29 provinces across China.

On the second day of receiving patients during Pacific Partnership 2012 the top talk aboard the USNS Mercy was an adorable four-month-old Indonesian girl with a cleft pallet.

Project HOPE volunteer nurses have provided more than 500 health screenings over the last 12 months.

Project HOPE continues to support Yamad-machi region of Japan with volunteers and hospital reconstruction.

"I love doing this kind of work, it is really helping out people that really need the help," says Dr. Baxt.

Teams of volunteers prepared supplies to be taken ashore for the land-based medical outreach that will soon begin taking place near North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

As the USNS Mercy sailed toward Indonesia with 19 Project HOPE volunteers on board, not a minute was wasted.
