Project HOPE Bosnia and Herzegovina was invited by Municipality New Sarajevo to participate in Sarajevo Family Day 2013. Project HOPE organized a mobile teddy bear clinic for children, where the children could bring their favorite bears for medical checkups. The purpose of these playful interactions was to make the children’s next visit to a doctor more manageable. The interactions at the mobile bear clinic could also help a child process a medical intervention he or she had experienced or will experience.
The main focus of this event was to discuss healthy lifestyles for the teddy bears with the children, but really the talks were about the children themselves. Do they exercise and eat healthy food? Do they live in a smoke-free environment? More than 200 bears were examined, and they received small teddy bear health cards.
