Yes, Project HOPE engages in face-to-face fundraising, and you might encounter our teams in various locations in the United States. Our street fundraising program consists of dedicated and passionate professionals who are eager to discuss the impactful work of Project HOPE and offer opportunities to make a direct contribution to support our lifesaving work around the world.
When you meet our fundraisers, here’s how you can identify them as authorized representatives of Project HOPE:
- They will be wearing navy blue vests prominently featuring the Project HOPE logo.
- Each fundraiser carries an identification badge with their name and photo, verifying them as a professional fundraiser employed by our partners, GiveBridge and Global Faces Direct.
- They will be equipped with Project HOPE materials and gear.
- They use tablets for secure electronic processing of donations.
- They do not accept cash or check donations for security reasons.

To adjust the amount of mail you receive from us or be removed from our mailing list, please contact our Donor Services team via our website. It’s important to note that due to the advance preparation of our mailings, it may take up to 8-12 weeks for these changes to take effect. Please feel free to recycle any additional mailings you receive during this transition period.

At Project HOPE, we understand and appreciate your interest in directing donations toward specific programs or regions. You can designate your gift to a particular country or area where we are active. However, unrestricted contributions are essential to our organization’s work, as they allow us to allocate resources efficiently to areas of greatest need.
To ensure we can rapidly respond to emergencies and ongoing health crises globally, 15% of designated funds support future emergency responses and our lifesaving work around the world. For more information or to discuss your donation preferences, please contact our Donor Services team.
In Fiscal Year 2022, 88% of our expended resources were spent on our programs and 12% were spent on management and fundraising costs that are necessary to our ongoing operations. These ratios change year to year, and you can always find the latest information on our Financials Page.
If your contribution was a one-time donation, you will receive an official printed acknowledgment/tax receipt via postal mail approximately 10-14 business days from when we receive your gift. For an online donation, you will receive an email confirmation of your official acknowledgment/tax receipt that you can print at home.
If you are a monthly donor, you will automatically receive a tax receipt for your cumulative annual contributions after the end of each calendar year (customarily during February).

Donations are generally nonrefundable, but exceptions are made under limited circumstances. To find out how to request a refund within a 30-day window and read the terms that apply, please review our Donation Refund Policy.
Yes, we gratefully accept donations from international supporters. All donations are processed in U.S. dollars. If you’re donating from outside the U.S., your contribution will be converted to U.S. dollars. You will receive an online receipt for your donation, and if needed, we can provide a PDF version upon request. These contributions are tax-deductible in the U.S.; however, for tax deduction eligibility in your country, please consult with a tax advisor.
At Project HOPE, your donation has a multiplying effect. Each unrestricted dollar you donate helps us secure an extra $4 from other sources like government and institutional funds. This means your contribution multiplies in value, enabling us to expand our lifesaving work.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept donations of medicines, clothes, blankets, or similar items from the general public. Companies or organizations seeking to donate supplies should review our Gifts-In-Kind page to see if their offer might be a fit with our needs.
For impactful support, we encourage monetary donations, which provide the flexibility to address the immediate and varied needs of those we serve.
