Featured Press Releases
- Providing Long-Term Support to Earthquake Survivors in Türkiye & Syria: As we near the six-month anniversary of the day two deadly earthquakes claimed the lives of over 60,000 people and displaced millions more in Türkiye and Syria, Project HOPE continues supporting those whose lives have been impacted by the devastation. As part of a commitment to the localization of humanitarian aid, Project HOPE has been partnering with local organizations in Türkiye and northwest Syria, in addition to establishing an office in Gaziantep to provide long-term support to those affected by the resulting humanitarian crisis.
- Health Workers Near Breaking Point in Sudan: Health workers across the country are near their breaking point as the health system stands on the brink of collapse. Every aspect of the health care system has been continually disrupted by ongoing ethnic violence. Nearly all the entry points into Sudan are closed or extremely difficult to navigate, causing month-long delivery times for urgently needed medical supplies and medicine.
- Congress Must Act to Protect Health & Humanitarian Aid: Funding from the U.S. government is vital to fully respond to emergencies and health crises impacting health workers, health systems, and communities around the world. While a bipartisan debt agreement in Congress avoided an unnecessary default, if passed, the proposed funding levels for Fiscal Year 2024 will set back global health and humanitarian aid for years to come. Project HOPE calls for Congressional action to ensure continued U.S. leadership and adequate support for global health and humanitarian assistance.
- Project HOPE Calls for Greater Protection for People Experiencing Forced Displacement: More than 108.4 million people were displaced at the close of 2022, numbers that do not yet account for the mass displacement we’ve seen from the climate crisis and disasters like the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, the ongoing conflict in Sudan, the continuation of the war in Ukraine, and more. And just last week, we watched in horror as the globe mourned the loss of hundreds of people who risked their lives seeking safety on a migrant ship that sank off the coast of Greece.
- Project HOPE Responds to Kakhovka Dam Flooding in Ukraine: The flooding has affected more than 40,000 people, displacing entire communities as water inundated homes and businesses. Necessities like food, water, hygiene products, power sources, and blankets have become crucial lifelines for both internally displaced individuals and those who remained in their homes.
