Europe
Supporting health systems and responding to conflict
The Context
Project HOPE’s history in Central and Eastern Europe began in 1974 when we became the first U.S.-based organization to work behind the Iron Curtain to improve health services to children in Poland. Since then, we’ve pioneered a healthcare management program to train health workers across the region, created an innovative strategic medical resupply program in North Macedonia, supported refugees in war-torn Kosovo, and launched a comprehensive humanitarian response to Russia’s war in Ukraine with support for refugees in Moldova, Poland, and Romania.
