What are the greatest needs in Israel?
Immediately following the attacks, displaced families were in need of basic items after fleeing their homes, with some families rebuilding their entire lives after their homes were destroyed on October 7. In response, Project HOPE’s team delivered hygiene supplies and launched mental health programs to screen and treat patients for post-trauma stress disorder. Now, needs in Israel have shifted to long-term resilience building and recovery and reconstruction of health facilities.

What do hospitals in Israel need?
Project HOPE continues to support hospitals near Israel’s southern border by repairing damaged medical structures. The team has also previously delivered a mobile ultrasound machine to Shamir Hospital in Be’er Ya’akov and procured five clinical defibrillator monitors for Barzilai Medical Center. At Barzilai, Project HOPE is supporting the rehabilitation of the Children’s Developmental Institute, which was destroyed in October and provides support to children with developmental challenges.
Additionally, Project HOPE worked with Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem to support the equipment needs of an inpatient department at the Gandel Rehabilitation Center serving those injured in the conflict. Our team has also procured specialty wheelchairs and other specialized equipment for patients with spinal cord injuries at Sheba Medical Center. Project HOPE continues to act in coordination with partners in Israel, Gaza, Egypt, the West Bank, Jordan, and Lebanon to assess how and when we can best support the health and humanitarian needs of impacted communities, while remaining committed to the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

Is Project HOPE responding in Gaza?
Project HOPE’s team in Gaza provides an array of essential health, nutrition, psychosocial, and WASH services to address urgent needs across multiple locations, including 10 primary health care clinics operated by Project HOPE staff. Our team has established a supply chain into Gaza, delivering over 10 tons of medicines, and scaling up psychosocial support and gender-based violence protection services.
