Chris Skopec is responsible for overseeing Project HOPE’s global health programs worldwide and leading its humanitarian and emergency response efforts.  He also serves as Chair for the Disaster Assistance and Humanitarian Response Committee for the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD). 

Skopec previously served as senior director of emergency preparedness and response at International Medical Corps (IMC), where he also served for three years on the Inter-Agency Standing Committee’s Emergency Directors Group—the highest-level humanitarian coordination forum of the United Nations system. Before this, he served as IMC’s Director of International Operations, overseeing 30 country programs around the world and coordinating responses to numerous humanitarian crises. He also served for three years as IMC’s Country Director in Jordan, where he led multisectoral programs including health, mental health, and psychosocial support programs for Iraqi refugees. His work in global health, humanitarian and international relief, and development also includes serving as IMC’s Country Director in the North Caucasus, Regional Coordinator for the East Africa and Middle East regions, and Emergency Team Leader in Georgia, Gaza, Libya, and Ukraine. Skopec also served as Assistant Director for External Affairs for the California Conservation Corps. 

Skopec’s international experience began with a study abroad program in Ghana and service with the US Peace Corps as a volunteer in Kazakhstan. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Arts in Russian and East European studies from Georgetown University.
