Responding to Deadly Strikes in Ukraine
Project HOPE’s team in Ukraine is providing emergency support following intense attacks on Kyiv. The strikes killed at least 21 civilians and injured 85 people overnight and into Thursday morning and local authorities reported damage across 28 locations throughout the capital.
“Project HOPE Ukraine team were on the ground immediately, providing essential aid and psychological support to people affected by the strikes,” said Vira Topikha, Project HOPE’s Deputy Program Director in Ukraine. “Our thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones and with everyone impacted by this devastating attack. Project HOPE will continue to deliver life-saving support despite the ongoing risks.”
“Thankfully, Project HOPE’s team in Ukraine is safe, but over 20 lives were tragically cut short and so many are injured or still trapped under the rubble,” said Rabih Torbay, Project HOPE’s CEO. “As the world’s attention is pulled toward other crises, the devastating war in Ukraine continues to claim innocent lives. The world cannot forget Ukraine.”
