Project HOPE Elevates Chris Skopec as President

Project HOPE is proud to announce that Chris Skopec has been promoted to President, marking a new era of strategic growth and an exciting milestone in the 67-year-old organization’s evolution. Skopec has served as Executive Vice President of Global Health since 2017 and will step into this new role alongside longtime CEO Rabih Torbay as Project HOPE launches its new five-year strategic plan. This promotion ensures that Project HOPE can effectively scale its impact, deepen partnerships, and advance its mission to place power in the hands of local health care workers to save lives across the globe.

“I have had the fortune of working alongside Chris Skopec for over 20 years in places like the U.S., Jordan, Chechnya, Iraq, and Libya, long before we both joined Project HOPE in 2017. Throughout the years, Chris has served as an integral strategic partner who has sharp instincts, exceptional leadership skills, and the passion and commitment to Project HOPE’s mission,” said Rabih Torbay, Project HOPE’s CEO. “This promotion reflects both Chris’ leadership and Project HOPE’s ongoing commitment to investing in our people and capacity to achieve the ambitious goals set forth in our new five-year strategy.”

During his tenure as EVP of Global Health, Skopec has led initiatives that strengthened health systems, expanded partnerships, and positioned Project HOPE as a trusted leader in global health and humanitarian response. Under his guidance, Project HOPE has become a go-to partner for disaster and emergency response, overseeing lifesaving responses to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, the Türkiye earthquake, and most recently to Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

“It’s a privilege to serve as President at this defining moment in Project HOPE’s history,” said Skopec. “With our CEO Rabih Torbay, I look forward to advancing the strategic investment, partnerships, and innovation that will enable us to meet the ever-rising global health needs and deliver even greater impact for the communities we serve.”

In the role of President, Skopec will provide executive oversight across several of Project HOPE’s organizational functions ensuring alignment and integration, and partner closely with the CEO to implement the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
