Gerry Flynn

Gerry is an assurance partner, who currently leads PwC’s audit of Merck & Co., Inc. (Merck). Gerry has over 35 years of experience working with large global clients, the last 25 of which have been exclusively in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to his current role at Merck, Gerry led the audits of Johnson & Johnson from 2014 to 2018 and Merck from 2008 to 2012. He has extensive experience in managing industry issues and with mergers and acquisitions, including the Johnson & Johnson acquisition of Actelion and the merger of Merck and Schering Plough.

From 2018-2021, Gerry was the leader of PwC’s National Quality Organization. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of our quality mission in our Assurance practice. This included all aspects of both our Accounting and Auditing policy groups, our internal system of quality control and our relationships with the various regulators.

Gerry’s other pharmaceutical clients have included Novartis where he served as the US lead for all of the US operations of Novartis and specifically the US Pharmaceutical business. He also served as the quality review partner for Medtronic and Biogen, Inc. In this role, Gerry was responsible for a second review of all of the key judgments made by the engagement team.

Gerry was also the lead regional risk management consulting partner for the New York Metro region and in this role, he counseled partners concerning difficult business, accounting and auditing issues across industries. Gerry has also served as the New York Metro Leader for the Pharmaceutical Practice.

Gerry has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, specifically in the areas of strategic alliances, product licensing and business combinations. His roles include leading our efforts with respect to due diligence reviews of target companies, audits of carve-out financial statements and review of purchase price allocations.
