Julia Soyars
General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, Assistant Corporate Secretary
Julia Soyars serves as Project HOPE’s general counsel, chief compliance officer, and assistant corporate secretary and provides leadership for the Legal, Integrity & Compliance, and Governance departments.
Soyars has devoted the majority of her 30-year legal career to the nonprofit sector. Before joining Project HOPE in 2016, she served as the general counsel and assistant corporate secretary to the board of directors of Grameen Foundation USA, and before that she was a member of the American National Red Cross legal department, handling domestic and international transactions. Soyars began her legal career as an associate with Pillsbury, Madison, and Sutro in Washington, D.C.
Soyars holds a JD magna cum laude and a BA cum laude in sociology from Syracuse University. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
