Supporting local health workers and addressing health disparities across noncommunicable diseases, maternal and neonatal health, nutrition, mental health, and more

Project HOPE is mobilizing a response in Nepal in the wake of deadly landslides and flooding. This response is in initial stages and more information can be found here.

Project HOPE’s emergency response experts will conduct a rapid needs assessment to identify the greatest health and humanitarian needs in affected communities.

The Context

Project HOPE’s work in Asia began in 1960 with the SS HOPE’s maiden voyage to Indonesia and Vietnam. Then, in 1983, Project HOPE became one of the first international organizations to work in China, helping to modernize the country’s health services. In 2025, Project HOPE responded to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, coordinating with local partners to stabilize communities in the aftermath of widespread destruction. Throughout Asia, we’ve addressed health disparities by training health workers, expanding noncommunicable disease programs, improving maternal and child health services, and responding to disasters.
